ROCHESTER, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) – Rochester police charged a 20-year-old Friday in connection with a single car crash that occurred Tuesday.
Joshua A. Demoranville of Middleborough was charged for speeding, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, failure to stop for police, and failure to stay in marked lanes after injuring himself and two others in a single-car crash Tuesday.
Rochester police say their officers saw a 2003 Acura speeding down Neck Road just before 6 p.m. Tuesday. They believe the car lost control on a curve, went airborne, hit a telephone pole, then rolled over.
Demoranville was thrown 30 feet from the car and passenger Samuel Pike, 19, was ejected from the vehicle and thrown over 175 feet. A third passenger, Antone Arruda, 18, was still in the car when police arrived. All of the men are from Middleborough.
Two of the victims were transported to Rhode Island Hospital. A third was flown to Mass. General Hospital.
Police later learned that the Middleborough men were driving on Neck Road to see the site of a crash that happened Monday night and involved their friends.
Rochester Police Chief Paul Magee said that the town will not tolerate any reckless driving.
"We will be out in force running radar to ensure the safety of other drivers. Race in Rochester and you will lose your license," he said.
