Woman Arrested For Shoplifting At Walmart In Tullytown

BUCKS COUNTY, Pa. -

A Bucks County mother who accused police of beating her teenage son now finds herself in trouble with the law.

Marissa Sargeant says her 14-year-old son was brutalized by police after he was arrested in November for shoplifting at the Walmart in Tullytown.

Now Tullytown police arrested her there Thursday night for the very same offense.

According to court documents, 32-year-old Marissa Sargeant and another woman pretended to scan $107 worth of merchandise at the Walmart Thursday night.

The police report says Sargeant then went to buy cigarettes while the other woman tried to leave without paying before they were stopped.

It's the same crime that Sargeant's 14-year-old son Joey Williams was accused of doing before he suffered these injuries, setting off an investigation into possible police brutality.

Sargeant posted several pictures of her son's face on social media saying police shot him there with a taser.

Sargeant said this about her son's arrest a few months ago.

"My son is an innocent 14-year-old boy. He didn't deserve what happened to him," she said in November.

The Bucks County District Attorney determined the officers involved in Williams arrest acted appropriately.

The DA concluded Williams' suffered his injuries from falling on his face while his hands were handcuffed behind his back.

Williams reached an agreement with prosecutors in December to wipe the charges off his juvenile record as long as he stays out of trouble.

"He's scared, he's nervous. He's a 14-year-old kid. He's a baby," Sargeant said about her son in November.

Now it's his mom in the hot water.

Sargeant faces charges of retail theft and receiving stolen property.

An affidavit of her arrest said she has three previous convictions for shoplifting, upping her charges to felonies.

Sargeant was behind bars at the Bucks County Prison on a $20,000 bond Friday night.

She pleaded not guilty during her arraignment Friday morning.

The other woman involved in the case has not been charged at this time.
