New York Waterfall Dazzles Residents

Posted: Updated:

A suddenly vibrant blue overtakes a waterfall in a small New York town mystifying area residents.

Dozens of people are visiting the falls and taking pictures with the spot inside Wolcott Falls Park.

However, some of the locals are not as enthused.

The colorful display is raising some concerns.

Linda Shipper enjoys the strange colors. Shippers says, "It's pretty. Whatever is doing it, they should do it more."

"I think it's pretty neat, but at the same time, what is it and is it in our drinking water," asks resident Jessie Gile.

The Department of Environmental Conservation says early tests do not show anything harmful.

Some believe the color change was caused by copper sulfate, which is used to kill algae in farm ponds.
