NEWTON, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- The driver of a car that hit a school bus in a head-on crash in Newton Monday afternoon has been charged with a marked lanes violation.

Just before 3:30 p.m., a bus carrying 22 children was leaving Brown Middle School, when a car, driven by a 66-year-old woman, hit the bus.

The cause of the crash was unknown, though police were looking into a medical issue with the car's driver as a possible cause, according to the Newton Fire Department. The woman was taken to Newton Wellesley Hospital with chest pains.

Two students reported minor injuries, and were taken back to the school to see a school nurse.

No further details were immediately available.
