Tuesday marks 24 years since Gardner Museum heist

Posted: Updated:

BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) -- Tuesday marks 24 years since the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum heist.

Two thieves dressed as police officers stole $500 million worth of art from the Boston museum on March 18, 1990. The 13 stolen pieces were the work of Rembrandt, Degas, Manet, Govaert Flinck, and Vermeer.

In 2013, the feds said they know who took it, but they wouldn't name names.

FBI officials said they determined that the art was transported to Connecticut and Philadelphia, but they do not know where the art is currently located.

The museum still lists a $5 million reward on their website for information leading to the recovery of the art.
