HARALSON COUNTY, Ga. -

A serious crash involving a Haralson County school bus and a pickup truck left at least 16 people injured Thursday morning.

The accident took place on Highway 120 near Buchanan.

The Georgia State Patrol said a Dodge pickup truck driven by a 17 year old female was traveling west on Highway 120 towards Tallapoosa when it crossed the centerline and struck the school bus head-on.

Haralson County authorities at the scene told FOX 5 photographer Mike Daly that they transported 14 students and the school bus driver to Tanner Higgins Hospital in Bremen with minor injuries.

Fire Chief Brian Walker said none of the students suffered serious injuries and most complained of neck, knee or shoulder pain.

Chief Walker said firefighters had to use emergency equipment to free the teenage driver from the wreck.  Medics airlifted her to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta.

State troopers say Highway 120 will remain closed for several hours as they investigate the accident.
