BROCKTON, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) – A Brockton middle school student claims she was assaulted last week by another student.

The parent of a Raymond Middle School student reported to the principal that her daughter was assaulted by a classmate, according to a statement from the school. The principal immediately contacted school police and got counseling for the victim.

The suspect, an eighth grade student, was arrested the next day and was excluded from school indefinitely.

According to the Enterprise, the student is facing rape charges amid allegations that he attacked the female student in a wooded area.

"This is a troubling situation. We are doing our best to protect the privacy of the victim; she is our first priority and we are committed to ensuring that she and her family have all of the support they need," said Superintendent of Schools Kathleen A. Smith, JD.
