High School Baseball Player Saves Umpire's Life

Posted: Updated:

A high school player became a hero after he saved a man's life during a baseball game last week in Newton County.

Alex Norwood, 16 years old, quickly jumped into action after an umpire collapsed on the field.

Norwood performed CPR on the umpire until an off-duty EMT at the game was able to take over. Norwood was recently certified to perform CPR.

The umpire was flown to an Atlanta hospital. He is still in an intensive care unit.
