A joint effort by county and local police in March has resulted in the arrest of 16 people and the seizure of heroin and cash in drug sweeps conducted in Neptune City and Asbury Park, announced Acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni.
The drug busts were carried out by the Monmouth County Narcotics Task Force with the help of local police departments.
“When it comes to drug interdiction in Monmouth County heroin is our number one priority," said Grammicioni in a statement. "Heroin is killing our young people in record numbers and it is the cause of a lot of crime here and across the country,”
On March 7, 2014, the Monmouth County Narcotics Strike Force along with members of the Neptune City and Tinton Falls police departments executed a search warrant in the Brighton Arms apartment complex at 401 West Sylvania Ave., Neptune City, where 48 bricks of heroin (2400 bags) were seized, along with approximately $5,000 in cash and a 2010 Acura, all believed to be the proceeds of drug sales. The pair arrested at this location are both charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Child after their 10-year-old daughter was found in the apartment during the drug raid.
The following individuals were arrested as part of this operation:
Carl Edward Laine, 33, of Apartment 19A in the Brighton Arms apartment complex at 401 West Sylvania Ave., in Neptune City, is charged with Possession of Heroin, Possession with Intent to Distribute Heroin, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child. He was released after posting $100,000 bail with no option to post 10 percent, as set by the Monmouth County Superior Court Judge John T. Mullaney, Jr., J.S.C.
Geneeja Walker, 29, also of Apartment 19A in the Brighton Arms apartment complex at 401 West Sylvania Ave., Neptune City is charged with Possession of Heroin, Possession with Intent to Distribute Heroin, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child. She was released after posting $25,000 bail with no option to post 10 percent, as set by the Judge Mullaney.
On March 12, 2014, the Monmouth County Narcotics Strike Force, along with the Street Crimes Unit of the Asbury Park Police Department, Ocean Township Police Department, and a K-9 Unit from the Wall Township Police Department, executed a search warrant at 1313 Bangs Ave., Apt. #1, in Asbury Park, where four bricks of heroin (200 Bags), and less then 1/2 ounce of cocaine was seized.
