Bicyclist hit, killed in Sullivan Square

Posted: Updated:

BOSTON, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- A bicyclist was killed in Sullivan Square Thursday afternoon after being hit by a sanitation truck.

Boston Police officers responded to the scene at Cambridge and Spice streets in Charlestown just after 1:30 p.m. Wednesday. The person who was hit died at the scene.

"I don't think it's safe to ride your bike, there's so much traffic around here it's ridiculous," an area resident said.

The driver of the sanitation truck involved fled from the scene and police were unable to locate the truck and driver until Thursday evening. No charges have been filed at this time.

The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call Boston Police.
