WALTHAM, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- One person died in a fire at a Waltham home Friday.
The fire broke out on Crescent Street at about 3:30 a.m.
The victim was found on the third floor and is believed to be a man in his 50s. The smoke alarm in the victim's room had been dismantled, officials say, but the hard-wired smoke alarms in the common hallways were working and may have prevented additional damage.
Two others were pulled from the first and second floors. There is no word on their conditions.
Waltham's fire chief said it appeared the flames started in the victim's room and the improper disposal of smoking materials was the cause of the fire.
