Family Mourns The Loss Of 19-Year-Old Gunned Down In Home Invasion

Posted: Updated:
PHILADELPHIA -

For the mother of 19-year-old Shaquelle Abraham, learning of her son's murder was too much to take. His stepfather spoke with reporters.

"Don't have the least idea why they want to kill him, least idea," he told Fox 29.

"We have no idea what the motive is right now, the place was not ransacked," said Captain James Clark of the Homicide Unit. "Definitely he was targeted, but we have no idea why."

Police say Abraham was gunned down during a home invasion at this second floor Fairgreen Lane apartment just before 11 a.m..

"An unknown individual kicked in the front door of his apartment shot him one time , he went down and they fled from the scene," Captain Clark explained.

Family members and friends hurried to the crime scene overcome with emotion as news spread of the mid-morning murder . Marco Pascarella and his wife knew Abraham since he was just a child.

"It's a shame. Very nice kid, respected everybody. Wasn't out there to fight," said Bille Pascarella as she fought back tears.

"Watched him grow up since he was five years old. My wife baby sat him as a kid. Moms good people. No father, just tragedy," Marco Pascarella said.

Crime scene investigators spent hours at the scene looking for evidence as detectives went door-to-door looking for witnesses. All police have right now is a description of a vehicle leaving the scene.

"A newer year, four door, red Volvo fleeing the scene at a high rate of speed may be involved in this murder," Clark added.

Abraham's step father told reporters the young man was just starting to turn his life around.

"Just got  job too, they kill him now, just so serious," he said.

"It's ridiculous, young kid like that didn't even have time to live his life," Mrs. Pascarella said.

Police have no suspects and no arrests at this time.
