Former Boston Mayor Tom Menino reflects on Marathon bombings
(MyFoxBoston.com) -- FOX 25's Maria Stephanos sat down with former Boston Mayor Tom Menino for his reflections as the anniversary of the Boston Marathon bombings approaches.
The mayor spoke about how everyone responded after accused bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was captured on April 19, 2013.
Menino checked himself out of the hospital once the bombs went off and went right into action. When Maria asked the mayor why he did that, he said what he was going through was nothing compared to what everyone else was going through, especially the victims and their families. That is something he thinks about while he battles his own illness.
"It's amazing to me how many people reached out to me," said the longtime mayor. "Some people I never expected called me at home."
