Woman found shot in her Detroit home, stuffed in closet

Posted: Updated:
DETROIT (WJBK) - Police are investigating after they discovered a woman's body in her home on Detroit's east side.

A neighbor called police after he noticed Renee Goosby's vehicle was parked in the same spot for several days. The neighbor tells FOX 2's Andrea Isom he knocked on her door but she did not answer, and he could only hear her dog barking so he called police.

Police then came to the scene and entered the home. They found Goosby shot to death, stuffed inside a pantry closet in the basement.

Her dog was also found shot in the leg but is expected to recover.

Police say, at this point in the investigation, they believe foul play is involved. They say the woman in her 30s has "defensive wounds", but would not describe the nature of the wounds.

Her door was also unlocked when police came to her house, so they believe she knew the person or persons that committed the crime.

Police say they are following several leads at this time.
