Elderly man struck and killed in hit and run accident

WORCESTER, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) – An elderly man was struck and killed in a hit and run accident in Worcester Saturday.

At about 2:48 a.m., police responded to 995 Main St. for the report of an accident involving a pedestrian. A man was found lying by the curb, officials say, and the car that hit him left the scene.

The 83-year-old Worcester man had serious injuries and was transported to the hospital where he later died.

According to a preliminary investigative report from the Accident Reconstruction Unit, the man was crossing Main Street when he was hit by the car.

Police are looking for the suspect's car, which is described as a Dodge Caravan or Chrysler Town & Country van, possibly a 2002 to 2007 model. The car was described as dark in color and may have damage to the front hood and possibly the windshield.

The name of the victim has not been released yet.

The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call Worcester police at 508-799-8651 or send an anonymous text to 274637.
