A California woman could face heavy fines from the Transportation Security Administration for having an over 8 inch long knife in her carry-on bag.
A TSA officer found the knife concealed in an enchilada at a screening station in Sonoma Airport on Monday. The woman was referred to sheriff's deputies who questioned her, but decided to clear her to travel.
According to TSA officials, the woman told them she didn't know how the knife got into the bag.
"This item turned out to be an 8.5 inch knife that was insIde of a wrapped enchilada. The woman said she had made the enchilada over the weekend and she really didn't know how the knife got into the bag," said TSA spokesman Nico Melendez.
The TSA says the woman could face up to a $10,000 fine for the incident.
Her name was not released.
