CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- Firefighters responded to a blaze at a 6-story building in Cambridge overnight.

Officials at the scene told FOX 25 they believe the fire started in the basement of 888 Mass. Ave near Lee Street at about 12:30 a.m. Thursday. They believe the fire moved floor to floor up a utility shaft, making it difficult to battle.

Fire crews from several communities were called in to fight the blaze. At one point flames could be seen shooting out of the windows.

At least one firefighter suffered a minor injury while battling the fire.

The American Red Cross was called to the scene to help about 100 people displaced by the fire. Volunteers opened a reception center at the Cambridge Senior Center to meet with residents.

The Red Cross was told 57 units were affected.

There is currently no word on a cause of the fire.
