SOMERVILLE, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- Police have issued a sketch of a man who they believe may have attacked a female college student and who could be responsible for another recent attack in the area.

At around 1:20 a.m. Monday morning, a Harvard University student was walking from the Porter Square MBTA station and said a man grabbed her arm and pulled her into an alley as she walked around 358 Beacon St. in Somerville near Oxford Street in Cambridge.

The victim was able to defend herself, scream for help, run away and call police. She described the man who attacked her as a thin black male in his 30s, roughly 6-feet tall, clean shaven and wearing dark clothing.

Police say Monday's attack is similar to one that happened April 16 in Cambirdge. In that incident, a woman reported that she was the victim of an attempted sexual assault after leaving the Porter Square station after midnight.

She reported being assaulted on Richdale Avenue while she was walking alone. She was able to fight off her attacker and was not injured. The suspect in was described as a man wearing dark clothing.

Police are investigating whether those two incidents are connected.

"Police will be diligent in their investigative efforts to identify, apprehend, and prosecute the individual who is responsible for this incident," said Somerville Police Chief Charles Femino in a statement.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Somerville Police Department at 617-625-1600.
