ATTLEBORO, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- What would two armed robbers do with stolen canoes? That's what police are trying to figure out.
On Monday at 3 p.m., two men armed with guns entered the Bank of America at 505 Pleasant St. in Attleboro, brandishing handguns and demanding money. The two fled the bank with an undisclosed amount of money. Surveillance video and witness accounts led police to search for a green Ford pickup truck heading south on Route 123.
A short time later, police found the green truck abandoned on the town line between Attleboro and Norton. The truck was stolen from Canton, though before it was stolen, there were two 14-foot canoes attached to the truck's racks. At the time of the robbery, police said, the canoes were no longer on the truck.
One of the canoes, a green Coleman brand, was found in the parking lot of the Walpole Mall on top of a black truck, the canoe's owner told FOX 25. The other canoe was also found, Canton public information officer Rob Quirk tweeted on Tuesday afternoon.
The FBI, Canton and Attleboro police departments continue to investigate the truck's theft and armed robbery.
