BRENTWOOD, N.H. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- Services for the police officer killed while responding to a domestic dispute on Monday afternoon have been announced.
A public wake for Brentwood Police Officer Steve Arkell will be held Tuesday, May 20 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Exeter High School gym at 1 Blue Hawk Dr. in Exeter, N.H.
A memorial service will take place the next day, Wednesday May 21, at 10 a.m. at the William Ball Stadium at Exeter High School.
Arkell was shot and killed late Monday afternoon when he entered the home at 46 Mill Pond Rd. Neighbors had called 911 after hearing 47-year-old Michael Nolan screaming at his father, 86-year-old Walter Nolan. After asking permission to enter the home, Arkell was shot.
Michael Nolan is the suspected shooter and is believed to have died when the house caught fire and later exploded. A cause for the fire and explosion have not been determined.
Arkell, 48, worked for the Brentwood Police Department for 15 years and also coached lacrosse. He was married and had two teenage daughters.
