Abandoned home could fall on neighbor's any minute

Posted: Updated:
DETROIT (WJBK) - A Detroit woman lives next to an abandoned house and says its condition is so bad it's on the verge of collapsing onto her home.

The second floor of the abandoned home crumbled onto the first floor. Now, what's left of it is just inches away from crumbling on Mary Horton's home.

The house went on the city's demolition list in October of 2011.

FOX 2 contacted the mayor's office and a spokesperson said the house will be knocked down in 60 days. He later said that an emergency demolition was being sought, meaning the house could be raised in 30 days.

Horton says she doesn't think the house will last 30 days.

The Wayne Co. Treasurer owns the home and would be granted immunity if the home does collapse. But the deputy treasurer says they'd want to do the right thing and work something out with Horton.

UPDATE: The house was torn down about 11 hours after our story aired.
