Detroit Dog Rescue donates food to rescue groups

Posted: Updated:
HARPER WOODS, Mich. (WJBK) - Detroit Dog Rescue is known for helping stray and neglected dogs in Detroit. Now the group is lending a helping hand to other rescue groups in the area and donating thousands of pounds of dog food.

Angela Haisty came to pick up some food to bring to her shelter Bruise But Not Broken Canine Rescue in Grand Blanc.

"It's not for us. It's for the dogs and that's what it's always been about. It feeds dogs and it keeps rescues going. It's a struggle," she says.

DDR recently received a donation of 400,000 pounds of pet food from Pet Supplies Plus and Natura. They're donating 65,000 pounds of those bags of food to other shelters.
