2 arrested after break-in reported by teen in Plympton

PLYMPTON, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) – Two men were arrested Monday after a teen called 911 when they allegedly broke into her home.

On Monday, several house breaks were reported to Plympton police. Officers identified and arrested two suspects after they allegedly broke into a house where a 16-year-old girl was alone, officials say.

Michala Callahan was in her room around 6 p.m. Monday when she noticed an unfamiliar car parked in front of her house and heard a strange voice coming from the front steps.

"There was a man saying 'is anyone home? is anyone home?'" Callahan said.

What she heard next scared her even more.

"I heard the door open and he just walked right in," she said.

Callahan locked her bedroom door and called her mom at work right away.

"I was scared to death, scared to death and of course I'm thinking the worst," Callahan's mom Maureen said.

She told her daughter to hang up and dial 911. Callahan followed her mother's instructions, and not a moment too soon.

"I heard him in the guest bedroom, which is right next to mine, opening the drawers and rummaging through everything so I got really scared. Then he must have heard me on the phone because he came up to my bedroom door," she said.

The suspect then left her home. Callahan, who stayed on the phone with the 911 dispatched the entire time, provided a description of the getaway car and the direction it fled. Police credit her for the suspects' arrests.

Sgt. Brian Cranshaw of the Plympton Police Department said, "If it wasn't for her staying on the line, staying as calm as she could we probably never would have found them."

Callahan was able to give a description of the getaway car and the direction it fled, which police say undoubtedly led to the arrest of Ryan M. Ross, 29, and Warren J Searles III, 27, both of Plympton. They were arraigned Tuesday and Ross was held on $10,000 cash bail and Searles on $5,000 cash bail.

Police were able to recover stolen property, which linked the suspects to the break-ins in Plympton and possibly other towns.

The investigation remains ongoing.
