Aaron Hernandez to appear in court Monday for 2 separate cases

Posted: Updated:
FALL RIVER, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- Aaron Hernandez will have a busy day Monday, as he is scheduled for hearings in two separate cases.

Both hearings will take place in Fall River at the Bristol County Superior Court building.

Hernandez's legal team is expected to ask that charges be dismissed against the former Patriots tight end in the Odin Lloyd murder case of 2013.

It's been nearly a year since Lloyd was found shot to death in North Attleborough.

Lawyers for Hernandez say the state does not have the evidence to back up the murder charge, and they want it tossed out.

The likelihood of that happening is slim. Two associates of Hernandez are also charged in Lloyd's murder.

Also Monday, the former Patriot is scheduled to be arraigned on assault and battery charges for a fight that occurred in February inside the Bristol County Jail in Dartmouth.

Authorities say Hernandez punched 25-year-old Andrew Booker several times in a jail hallway while Booker was in handcuffs. The two were housed in the same unit, and allegedly did not get along.

Booker is refusing to testify against Hernandez for the jail fight because he doesn't want to be labeled a snitch.

FOX 25 has obtained a letter written by Booker. In the letter, Booker claims authorities are targeting him for not talking.

He writes, "They're just using me like a pawn to crucify Aaron... And I'm against it."

FOX 25's Ted Daniel did ask the jail's Sheriff Hodgson about that. He says Booker is being treated just like every other inmate of the jail.
