Speaker of the house may file lawsuit against Obama

Posted: Updated:

WASHINGTON, D.C. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- A lawsuit against President Barack Obama may be filed by the speaker of the house.

The president has repeatedly failed to carry out the laws passed by Congress, according to John Boehner and other Republicans. Obama may be sued for allegedly abusing his executive powers.

They cite certain EPA laws and the changes the president has made to the Affordable Care Act.

"What we have seen clearly over the last five years is an effort to erode the power of the Legislative branch. I believe the president is not faithfully executing the laws of our country and on behalf of the institution and our Constitution standing up and fighting for this is in the best long-term interests of the Congress," Boehner said.

It's unclear when the speaker of the house will file his lawsuit, but it's expected within the next few weeks.
