Daniel Stadleman, 40, died in May. His death was not considered suspicious.
Just before noon a Tier 2 Hazmat response had been initiated to deal with the situation. A Tier 2 response includes a full tech and bomb squad response. The State Police bomb squad and members of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives investigated inside the home.
No bombs were found, but a fuse and powders were found on the scene. Numerous firearms, ammunition and a crossbow were also removed from the house. Officials began clearing the scene at around 1:45 p.m. Sunday.
"All of a sudden the bomb squad showed up, and Hazmat pulled up," said neighbor Adam Legare. "Then I tried to walk back, and they wouldn't let me back."
Methuen police also responded the scene. Methuen Police Chief Joe Solomon said it did not appear that Stadleman was involved in bomb-making, though the materials found "are consistent with the materials that would be used in bomb-making."
