Newspaper sports editor arrested on child porn charges

NOTTINGHAM, N.H. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- The sports editor of the Portsmouth Herald was arrested Wednesday and charged with possession of child pornography.

Along with the New Hampshire Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, local police executed a search warrant at Frank P. Coppola's home, where they arrested him and charged him with possession of child sexual abuse images, which is a Class A felony.

Coppola, 39, was held in jail on $100,000 cash bail and is set to be arraigned on Sept. 3.

As a part of the task force, multiple law enforcement agencies helped with the investigation of Coppola, including Nottingham police, Portsmouth police and the Rockingham County Sheriff's office.

"We take these charges very seriously," said John Tabor, the president of Seacoast Media Group, which publishes the Portsmouth Herald, said in a statement. "We can't comment further at this time because it is a personnel matter."
